2nd Club Shore Competition results sent in by Roland Blomfield.
On Sunday 12th January the club held its 2nd Club Shore competition at Sandbanks, Poole. The weather for the evening was cold with a south-westerly wind and a nice flat sea. 18 club members and 2 guest anglers signed on. Sadly only 1 sizeable fish was caught which was a whiting weighing 0 lb 9.5 oz caught by Bruce Samber which gives him 65 points.
On these competitions undersize fish count for points which were 1 conger eel each by Thomas Short and Simon Stockley and they both get 25 points. Shane Samber and Malcolm Stote both caught 1 bass and 1 pouting each for 15 points each. All the other anglers who caught no fish get 5 points each.

On Sunday 29th December the club held its annual Flounder Open fishing competition. 38 anglers took part with a total of 8 flounders being weighed in. It was the first time for a long while that the weather was perfect on the day. The sea calm, overcast, dull with a light cold wind and plenty of tide running.
Results:
1st Craig Thompson with 3 yes 3 flounders for 4-17 lb, 2nd Roland Blomfield with 2 flounders (how does he do it?) for 3-11 lb,
3rd Martin Bobbett with 1 big flounder of 2-07 lb, 4th Malcolm Stote (lucky) with 1 flounder of 1-57 lb, 5th Tim Clark also 1 flounder of 1-49 lb.

On Sunday 15th December the club held its 1st club shore competition which was the Solent Christmas Fayre Rover. Weather on the day was cold, with a light northerly wind and a flat sea. 19 club members signed on and all 19 weighed in fish consisting of flounder, whiting, bass, pouting and dogfish. Undersize fish which on these competitions count for points were pouting, bass and flounder. A total of 100 fish were caught weighed and released back into the sea for a total weight of 65lbs 13.1oz.
Best round fish of the competition was a bass of 3lb 12oz caught by Paul Watson. Best flat fish was a flounder of 1lb 12.1/4oz caught by junior member Seth Hopkins. Best specimen fish was a dogfish of 2lb 4.5/8oz caught by Steve Monckton. Top junior on the day was Seth Hopkins with 2 fish for 5lb 2.1/4oz.
