Shingle Bank Competitions for 2020.

1st Shingle Bank League competition 3rd December.

     On Tuesday evening the club held its 1st Shingle Bank League competition of the club's 2020 club year.  Twelve club members signed on and ten weighed in fish consisting of dogfish, whiting, pouting ans small eyed and undulate rays.  A total of 38 fish were caught for a total weight of 59lbs 15.3ozs.  The best fish of the competition was an undulate ray weighing in at 12lbs 5ozs caught by Billy King.

     All fish are measured and weighed and then released immediately.  Only edible fish are retained.

Results:

1st Billy King 17lbs 5ozs,  2nd Paul Dibden 7lb 10 3/8ozs,  3rd Ollie Hopkins 5lb 15-8ozs,  4th Tom Bagnall 4lb 1-2ozs,  

5th Chris Ellis 3lb 15 3/8ozs, 6th Malcolm Stote 3lb 5 5/8ozs,  7th Danny Panks 2lb 7-8ozs,  8th Ben Daniel 0lb 15-2ozs,

2nd Shingle Bank competition 20th January.  Steve catches a new club record fish.

     On Monday 2oth January the club held its 2nd Shingle Bank League competition in which twelve club members took part and all twelve weighed in fish.  The weather for the evening was a flat calm sea, and a dry, cold frosty night.  Fish caught consisted of pouting, dogfish, spotted and undulate rays, 53 fish in total were weighed for a total weight of 61lbs 8.7ozs.  the best fish of the evening was an undulate ray of 17lbs 6.2ozs which is a new club record caught by Steve Pitman.  Steve also had a spotted ray of 3lb 4.8ozs ans Malcolm Stote a spotted ray of 3lb 10ozs.

Only edible fish are retained.  All other fish are gently put back into the sea after measuring.

     

8th Shingle Bank Competition 30th July.

     On Thursday evening the 30th July the club held its 8th Shingle Bank League competition.  This was the first competition since lock-down was lifted so anglers could fish again.

     The weather for the evening was hot and sunny with a flat calm sea and fifteen anglers signed on.  Eleven weighed in a total of 46 fish which consisted of gurnard, bream, scad and mackerel.  Only edible fish are retained.  All fish are weighed, measured and immediately returned to the sea.  Best fish of the evening was a bream weighing 0lb 15.2oz caught by Billy King.

5th Keith Panks 5 fish 2lb 6oz, 6th Luke Woodford 4 fish 2lb 0.8oz, 7th Roland Blomfield 3 fish 1lb 10.2oz, 8th Terry Kempton 1 fish 0lb 9.2oz, 9th Dan Rose 1 fish 0lb 8.8oz and10th Andy Hopkins 1 fish 0lb 8.4oz.

9th Shingle Bank League competition 8th September.

     On Tuesday evening the club held its 9th competition.  This competition was for the Peter Tybinkowski Merorial Shield trophy which is held annually in memory of Tiby who was a goodmember and angler of the club.

     the weather for the evening was good with a light breeze so 14 club members signed on and 11 weighed in fish consistingof black bream, dogfish, pouting, sole and undulatre rays. 49 fishin total were weighed for a total weight of57lbs 12oz.  The best fish of the evening was an undulate ray weighing in at 10lbs 5 5/8oz caught by Malcolm Stote.  All fish on these competitions are weighed and measured and then returned to the sea immediately.

10th Shingle Bank League Competition 28th September.

     On Monday evening the 28th September the club held its 10th Shingle Bank League competition.  The weather for the evening was good and 13 club members signed on.  10 weighed in fish consistin of conger eels, black bream, dogfish, sole, pouting and whiting.

     The best fish of the evening was a conger eel weighing in at 3lb 10oz caught by Malcolm Stote.

On these competitions only edible fish are retained.  All fish are weighed and released immediately and gently back into the sea.

11th Shingle Bank League Competition 26th October.

     On Monday evening the club held its 11th Shingle Bank League competitiom.  The weather for the evening was very good and 17 club members signed on.  16 weighed in fish consisting of undulate ray, whiting, dogfish and pouting.  68 fish were caught for a total weight of 82lbs 3oz.

     As these competitions are run on a aggregate weight basis the fish are weighed and immediately released gently back into the sea.  The best fish of the evening was an undulate ray weighing 10lbs 1/8oz caught by Ben Daniel.
