The weather forecast wasn't ideal with a south westerly wind blowing 12mph with rain on and off all day. So, I decided to head for Chesil Beach as I had the day booked off work. Recent outings had not been memorable, but this one proved the opposite. The sea was like drinking chocolate and I caught a new personal best sole of 1lb 4oz with the first cast. Then followed a codling of 2lb 6oz, another about 1lb which was returned, 2 jumbo pouting 1lb 2oz and 1lb 4oz both kept for the table, plus a 5lb conger which was returned.
Ray Davies with this coalfish of 1lb caught in the Solent which beats the club record by 1oz which has been held by C.Biddlecombe for the last 34 years
